Misericordia University, PA 2001
I received my undergraduate degree at East Stroudsburg University in 1977. Later in my career, I earned a Master's degree in Organizational Management from Misericordia University (2001) at which time I was honored with induction into Kappa Gamma Pi. When invited to participate In Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare 2011 Leadership Development Institute, in the tradition of Kappa Gamma Pi scholarship and leadership, I accepted. I had the distinction of being the recipient of the Institute's Servant Leader Award for that year.
My professional career spans thirty-plus years in the field of human services. I provided case management services to intellectually challenged individuals and their families, then vocational rehabilitative counseling services to the disabled. Ultimately, I became a Program Executive in Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services (formerly, Department of Public Welfare). This administrative position afforded the opportunity to be involved in regulatory processes, policy development, program implementation and outreach and enrollment strategies. Target populations included low-income individuals and families, the disabled and other special populations such as victims of domestic violence and the homeless.
