2011 Convention

“Called and Gifted”
June 20-23 at Dominican University

River Forest, IL

The Chicago chapter hosted the 40th biennial National Convention of Kappa Gamma Pi at Dominican University in River Forest, IL. The Chicago Chapter members present Called and Gifted as the convention theme as a springboard for activity and involvement. This internationally recognized workshop presented by the St. Catherine of Siena Institute was created to help Catholics and all Christians succeed at a primary discipline of Christian life: discerning, developing and using spiritual gifts.

Highlights of the Convention

Using a Spiritual Gifts Inventory, this program allowed everyone to find the courage, the love, the wisdom and the power to follow Jesus as a disciple. This totally interactive program allowed us to begin to identify patterns in our lives that may be more fully developed as spiritual gifts. Becoming clear about the gifts we have been given can take weeks, months, even years, as we seek to un¬derstand the ways in which God seems to regularly use us, but this workshop gives everyone who participates a strong foundation.

In just one day, Kappas and their guests will learn the signs and characteristics of 24 common charisms and the five steps of discerning these charisms. Led by an energetic presenter, everyone will have the opportunity to share experiences, thoughts, and prayers during this challenging and fulfilling experience.

Faith and Service Award

The 2011 Kappa Gamma Pi Faith and Service Award was presented to Sister Marybeth McDermott, CSJ, Founding Director of School on Wheels, the mobile literacy program for immigrants in Chicago’s western suburbs.
